In electrical work, a term used to refer to a short piece of wire used to terminate and connect a device - such as a switch or a receptacle - to a set of wires.

Examples: If you have more than one hot, neutral or ground conductor in the box, you should probably use a pigtail to connect your device to each set of wires.
